On another blog I read, *Head desk*, the newest post is about a sort of blog chain letter type thing going around in that writer's circle. Since I've been stuck home nursing my back I have, regrettably little to blog about so I'm stealing it!
/cue genious evil laughter
.....laughter doesn't work if genuis is spelled wrong does it?
Anyways, it's the 6 things that make me happy post! (Yeah yeah cheezy, I know, go away)
1. Corn bags. Pop it in the microwave for a minute and a half and wallah! Snuggly warmth! I used to equate these things to recovery but now I use mine almost every day, mostly to keep my feet warm while I'm writing. Ringing phones, coyote calls, random sneaky cats trying to turn the dryer on, none of this will interrupt my flow but cold feet kills inspiration instantly.
2. Demotivational Posters. So yeah the scenes of spectacular landscapes and uplifting captions are great and all but these are so much better. Whenever I need a pick me up and just browse through the ones saved onto my laptop or just browse photobucket for a bit. The best part is thinking of people I know who fits them perfectly.
3. Sunlight. Ok so this is a bit earthy-crunchy but laying in a patch of sunlight just going all zen is a sure fire way for everything to just be ok. I started this trend when I was a kid. I'd open my porch door and sit in the light reading but sure enough would usually end up asleep. Now I spend time on the floor in my kitchen though lately there's been a bit of a traffic mess with me, Jup, Button and Nanao all fighting for that spot. Yay for roommates that can be easily swayed with treats!
4. Nostalgia. Take for instance the movie "The Nightmare before Christmas". It was and always will be one of my favorite movies. Tops. Hell I even like the songs and musicals make me giggle like some silly little blank blank blank. So finding the video from Amy Lee who covered Sally's Song was like heaven on a bagel that did not go straight to my hips. It's great, it's awesome, she does a great job. Nostalgia...feel the 'awwwww' coming on.
5. Birds. Going outside, especially after it snows when the world is so still and dead silent is kind of like walking in an empty world. What fun is that? But seeing, hearing birds is kind of like a nod that something else is taking up space with me.
6. Tea. Oh yeah, obvious I know but it is my ultimate comfort mechanism. Hard day? Life changing decisions to be made? Stub my toe? Get a dirty look from the mail man? Tea will ease all ills. At first I got into the habit to help me sleep, then I started on the Chai (damn addictive but mmmm mmmm good) I'm still waiting to get off the Chai, now venturing into the world of happy healthy green tea. Sure I may venture off into the unressitable land of Coffeeville but I always come back to the tea. Ultimate happiness is only a cup away. Plus drinking while daydreaming looks so much better than just staring off into space like a moron.
